John Parker Exhibition in the Ambrico Kiln
We have some exciting news to share...
From the 8th of July, a selection of works by renowned ceramicist, John Parker, will be on display inside the Ambrico kiln!
This exhibition marks the official reopening of the Ambrico kiln, which is celebrating its centennial anniversary this year. Step inside and experience the last surviving remnant from West Auckland’s clay heritage.
John Parker is widely respected as one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading studio potters, and Te Toi Uku is delighted to launch the Ambrico kiln’s new exhibition space with John’s striking work.
Throughout his career, John has drawn inspiration from early Crown Lynn potter, Ernest Shufflebotham, who produced many of Crown Lynn’s hand-thrown whiteware vases between 1948 and 1957 – making this exhibition particularly fitting.
The Ambrico kiln will be accessible during Te Toi Uku's opening hours: Wed-Fri 10-4pm, & Sat 10-3pm.
Join us to experience John Parker’s ceramics in this truly unique space.
We would like to thank the Whau Local Board for supporting the restoration of the Ambrico kiln and Creative Communities Scheme, Auckland Council, for helping make this exhibition possible.
