Reflections is an iconic Crown Lynn pattern, and it’s representative of a key part of Crown Lynn’s history – design competitions.

Reflections was the winner of the very first Crown Lynn design competition in 1959. Designed by Wellingtonian, Otway Josling, Reflections was put into production and sold well for years. The domestic ware had a teal background, and the hotel ware was mushroom coloured.

The pattern only grew in popularity when TEAL airline (which became Air New Zealand) chose it for their in-flight tableware.

Reflections is a fantastic symbol of the development of New Zealand’s identity. These design competitions enabled New Zealanders to showcase their design skills and create products that were unique to Aotearoa.
