Ambrico Elephants

Here are two gorgeous 1940s elephants, both glazed in a blueish-tan with vibrant orange feet. These were made as part of Ambrico’s initial experimentations with small animal figurines, where anyone interested was invited to model and fire small items. These elephants seem to represent what seems to have been a relatively playful period in Ambrico’s developmental process.

Alongside the elephants, the 1940s saw a plethora of other animals - including pigs, rabbits, kiwis, and lions. These various figurines, often glazed in bright colours, are now highly sought after.
