Carnaby was designed by Colin Simon and won the Crown Lynn Design Competition in 1967.

Colin sadly died recently in Wellington. He won in other years too, and he designed the logo for the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth Games.

No doubt Carnaby was named after Carnaby Street in London, which was the epicenter of the ‘Swinging 60s’ and it’s happy youthful style truly represents that era.
