Cook and Serve

The Cook & Serve range was first produced by Crown Lynn in 1963. Their tag-line was “Heat it in the oven, dump it in cold water, chill it in the fridge, pop it back in the oven.” It was tough but beautiful and came in a range of patterns including Green bamboo, Narvik, Tango and Shasta Daisy.

This was the first range that included a coffee pot, taking into account the growing consumption of instant coffee. There was also a range of ‘coffee cans’, straight sided cups in a variety of groovy patterns.

Val Monk has written a great blog about them.

The Cook & Serve range included casseroles and bakers, salt and pepper shakers, mustard pots, ramekins, spice jars as well as dinner and lunch plates and more. Being vitrified these pieces do not craze and many of them are still going strong over 60 years later.
